Social media is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it helps so many of us build our business, right? You know the story; I was able to build my multi six-figure business just through Instagram alone. I owe a lot to it. But it can also be the source of extreme jealousy.
In the beauty industry, it can seem like every time another salon, studio, or artist succeeds, it means you're failing. It's not a fun cycle to be in. You see someone you're jealous of experience success, you start to get down on yourself for not hitting that achievement or being right where they are or better, you get angry with them, and then you feel shameful that you're even experiencing these feelings.
Listen, you're not that raging green monster...
I talk a lot about being an immigrant. I came to the US at a very young age from the Philippines with my family and I saw my dad put in hours of hard work to take our 10 person family from a tiny two-bedroom apartment with fake walls to middle-class suburbia. I attribute my natural work ethic and drive to my parents because they taught me that you get out what you put in. Nothing was just handed to us, you know?
My story is important to me and whenever I meet someone with a similar story, it's an instant connection. That's how it was when Taby Davila and I met. She has an amazing story that starts with her family's attempts to cross the border into the US when she was very young. Now she's an incredibly successful entrepreneur with multiple businesses....
Stefanos Sifandos is one of my favorite people on Instagram. Everything he posts is just so insightful. He's a love and relationship coach - which I think everyone can learn from regardless of whether you're in a "good" relationship, "bad" relationship, or not in one at all. He works predominantly with men and channeling your masculine energy efficiently, but he also sees a lot of women one on one.
He's just really intelligent and I think the work he's doing on Instagram is something everyone needs to pay attention too because it's so important.
I was super excited when he agreed to be on Pretty Rich Podcast with me because, you know, I only want to deliver my Pretty Rich family the best. And he is.
We're talking all about emotional intelligence, the power of failure, getting your man into self-development, masculinity in female entrepreneurship, and so much more good stuff.

Look, we all love pretty pictures, okay? But if that's all your brand is...I mean, how does that help you stand out? How does that help your customers connect to you? How does that help them relate to you?
I talk about myself all of the time. I'm always sharing parts of my life and story with you guys. And it's not because I just love talking about myself all the time. It's because the more I share, the more you see of me as a person rather than just pretty microblade brows, the more we connect. The stronger our relationship gets. And the better I can help you! Because we'll know each other better.
On this episode, I have Monique Benabou, who is a master of knowing herself and sharing her truth. You might remember her from season 2 of The Voice. Before she did a deep-dive...
I'm all for strong women, okay, of course, but needing a support group doesn't mean you're not strong. It doesn't mean you're not capable.
We're programmed to be social creatures. It's a deep survival instinct. It's in our DNA. It's not really something you can fight.
And maybe, if that's the kind of mentality that you have, maybe it's been hard for you to find your group. Maybe you've struggled to find your tribe, the people, the group of friends, that love and support you and the things that you do. And I totally understand that.
If you've been alone for a while, if you've been hurt by friends before, it can be hard to open yourself back up and welcome the idea of a tribe but trust me, girl. Your life will be so much better when you do find your true tribe. So we're gonna talk...

Our guest for this episode couldn't be a better person to speak on this subject. Calie Calbrese is a gut and mindest expert that coaches women on how to achieve high success in their businesses and lives and her motto is: choose joy. Now, choosing joy doesn't mean that it's easy to just choose to be happy, but it means above all else, she chooses joy.
She chooses what will be good for her, rather than what will be bad. But it's not something that's always come easy to her.
Years ago, before Calie moved to Cali, she found out that her husband of 14 years had been arrested in a prostitution sting - and that he had been unfaithful to her for the entirety of their...
